Embark on the "Ocean View Retreat" journey, where thoughtful design harmonizes a spacious deck with the practical need for natural light, creating a living space seamlessly connected to its breathtaking surroundings.

Our client desires a spacious ocean-view deck. The challenge of maximizing natural light on the lower level led us to a strategic design approach that not only fulfilled the client's socializing aspirations but also addressed the importance of maintaining an open, well-lit interior space.

Design Strategy:

• Modest Deck with Kitchen Integration: We prioritized natural light by opting for a more modest-sized deck integrated with the kitchen. Strategically placed sliding doors seamlessly connect interior and exterior spaces, flooding the kitchen with abundant natural light.

• Topography-Integrated Staircase: Instead of a traditional stair structure, we utilized the slope's natural topography to create a site-stair on grade. This functional connection between the upper deck and lower garden enhances design harmony with the landscape.

• Front Yard to Deck Access: The site-stair on grade offers direct access from the front yard to the deck, enhancing the guest experience and ensuring a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces.

• Maximized Natural Light: The integration of sliders and a modest-sized deck optimizes natural light, creating an inviting, airy atmosphere in the lower level.
